BREAKING NEWS: My running partner Heather Greene and I have been selected by the TLC television network to be on the show "A Makeover Story!" The crew will be coming on out to the Lehigh Valley to turn glam us up for my July 19th fundraising party. They'll have their work cut out for themselves ... Heather and I have an 18-miler scheduled the morning of the makeover. Oh, well, I suppose it'll just make the difference b/w our "before" and "after" shots all the more compelling! :)
**MY GOAL HAS BEEN REACHED!! THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS HELPED ME REACH MY GOAL. I'M STILL RAISING MONEY TO DONATE TO THE CAUSE. SO DONATIONS ARE STILL WELCOME!** Welcome to my Team in Training/Dublin Marathon Website! Many of you know that during the past few years, I've become an active runner. And some of you think I should have my head examined for running two marathons. But running has become something very special to me. And it's about to take an even greater meaning in my life. On October 27, I'll be running the Dublin Marathon in honor of my father-in-law, Bob Neitz. Last summer, Bob was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a cancer of the plasma cells found in bone marrow. When someone you know is diagnosed with cancer, you feel a sense helplessness. That's why I decided to join Team in Training, an organization that's dedicated to raising money for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and myeloma research, patient care, and education. An estimated 640,000 Americans are presently living with leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's, and myeloma. There have been some great advances in treatment in the last few years, and the money raised by the Team in Training program is a large part of the funding for this research. I feel it's the one thing I can do to help Bob and other patients like him. Thoughout his treatment, Bob has shown amazing courage, strength, and a positive attitude. These characteristics will inspire me throughout my training and during the 26.2-mile trek. As a participant in this program, I have pledged to raise $4,300. The money I raise will take the Society one step closer to a cure. But I can't do it alone. I need your help. If you are interested in donating, please click on the "DONATE" link to the left. Or, send me an email (katieneitz@hotmail.com). Thanks for taking the time visit my site. Please come back and check in to read my training diary, see how my donations are coming, look at photos, and sign my guestbook. Rob and I look forward to toasting our generous friends and family with pints of Guinness after the race. ;) Thanks so much! I couldn't do this without you! Katie |
